Objective

Environmental chemistry 3 cr:
The student understands the basic structures, properties and naming principles of different inorganic and organic compounds.
The student understands basic chemistry connected to relevant environmental processes.
The student understands the sources, reactions and migration principles of chemical compounds, and understands the effects they have in air, water and soil.

Basics in ecology 2 cr:
The student understands the central concepts and fundamental questions in ecology.
The student knows the basics in aquatic ecology.

Hydrology 1 cr:
The student knows the basic chemical and physical properties of water.
The student understands water related global phenomena and processes.
The student understands the basic concepts and questions in oceanography, limnology and hydrology.
The student has a good command of the basic properties of oceans and other waterbodies.
The student understands the processes connected with particular water basins.

Ecotoxicology 1 cr:
The student knows how xenobiotic compounds affect ecosystems and organisms.
The student knows the basic concepts and methods in ecotoxicology.
