Objective

The students know about prevention of infections in Finland and laws that control the operation of clinical microbiology laboratory. The students are able to do and interpret the most common microbial identification tests in the clinical bacteriology laboratory. The students know the most common virus identification tests.

Content

Notification and registration of infectious diseases. Licensed action of Clinical Microbiology Laboratory. Basics of specimen collection for identifying clinically important bacteria and viruses.
