Teaching methods
- Most of the studies takes place as a group work. Group work may include also measurements in the laboratory, for example.
- Course includes 2-3 lectures where guidance to the projects studies as well as some general theory about the themes will be presented.
- Group-specific steering sessions.
- Results of the project works will be presented in seminars (participation to seminars is mandatory).
Exam schedules
There are not exam.
Completion alternatives
There are not optional ways to pass the course.
Content scheduling
Objective is to become familiarized with power electronics applications from energy engineering viewpoint. Studies takes place in small groups where each group will work around specific topic (project studies). Topics are agreed with the course lecturer and they can fall under one of the following themes, for example:
- microgrids, DC-systems
- converters in solar systems
- converters in wind power plants
- industrial drives
Group will study about the structure, operation and features of converters in case of the selected topic. Furthermore, also power quality and energy efficiency viewpoints should be reviewed.
