Public Health Nursing of Families Growing into Parenthood 3 cr
VAKAObjectives Students will- Learn to apply their knowledge in health advice regarding motherhood and parenthood based on the needs and expectations of families- Learn to apply their knowledge to answer the customer’s and her family’s special questions regarding pregnancy and parenthood- Learn to work as a breastfeeding counsellor- Learn to apply their knowledge in matters regarding the family’s sexual health

Public Health Nursing of Families with Children 3 cr
LATE Objectives Students will- Learn to apply their knowledge to monitor the growth and development of children and to support children as individuals, family members and representatives of their own culture- Learn to co-operate with families and various interest groups to maintain and promote a safe growth environment- Learn to apply their knowledge to support parenthood throughout the family’s development- Learn to prevent infectious diseases and to master vaccination- Be able to carry out family education

Public Health Nursing of School-Aged Children and Young Families 2 cr
KOTEObjectives Students will- Learn to apply their knowledge to monitor the growth and development of adolescents and to support adolescents as individuals, family members, members of the school community and representatives of their own culture- Learn to guide adolescents in their sexual development and changes, as well as in mental health questions at different ages, and will be able to guide the adolescent’s family in problematic situations- Learn to apply their knowledge in the health problems of adolescents and in the resulting changes in the lives of families, as well as treat, guide and support adolescents and their families in these questions- Learn to work multiprofessionally to maintain and promote the health of adolescents and their families

Public Health Nursing of Families Growing into Parenthood 3 cr
VAKAContents- Support for parenthood and early interaction- Monitoring, care and guidance of the pregnancy and postpartum period in prenatal care- Special questions regarding pregnancy and the postpartum period- Family training and counselling- Breastfeeding counselling- Family planning guidance (plissit model and contraceptive advice)- Special questions related to pregnancy and parenthood, e.g. mental health- House call

Public Health Nursing of Families with Children 3 cr
LATEContents- Principles guiding operations in child health centres- Support for parenthood based on the child’s and family’s resources throughout the child’s development- Growth and development of under-school-aged children, as well as regular follow-ups- Monitoring of the child’s sight and hearing- Nutrition of babies and toddlers- Special questions related to the nutrition of children (constipation, diarrhoea)- Immunisation programme and vaccination- Special questions related to the child’s development (e.g. bed-wetting, delays in development, eating problems, disturbances in speech development)- Levels of sexuality- Multiprofessional cooperation

Public Health Nursing of School-Aged Children and Young Families 2 cr
KOTEContents- Principles governing school health care- Growth and development of a school-aged child, as well as regular follow-ups- Screenings- Risks/disturbances in the health and social development of school-aged children and adolescents and how to address them, e.g. bullying at school, school fatigue, obesity, depression- Empowering support for children/adolescents and their families- health promotion in the school community and student welfare

Public Health Nursing of Working-Age Clients 2 cr
TYPEContents- Ability to work and well-being at work- Legislation on occupational health- Plan of action and occupational health care agreement- Workplace survey- Physical examinations- Work environments; adverse factors, risk factors and stress factors- Coping at work- Work-related illnesses, occupational diseases and accidents- Activities to maintain the ability to work and the promotion of well-being at work- Multiprofessional activities/networks/development of the quality of one’s own work
