The student:
1. Understand the principles of waste legislation and
2. Recognize the need for legislative incentives
3. Recognizes the roles of different operators and the best practices of operational waste management.
4. Understand the social and environmental impacts of waste management globally
5. Practice work in a multidisciplinary and multicultural team
6. Practice think in a customer-oriented way
7.Practice to act independently using external networks and resources to manage a work successfully

Sisältö

In this course you'll familiarize yourself with the practices of waste management from workplace safety to transportation. The main goal is to understand the usual daily practises of operational waste management. You will also get information about waste legislation in the EU get understanding the waste management in the developing countries.

The course is 5 ects so the workload is 135 hours all together.

The course will take place during 02.02.2023 - 12.03.2023.

The course is online course.

Three online study sessions will be organized:
2.2. Introduction
16.2. help session on group work
2.3. Group assignment presentations

In this course you will learn about waste management from a global perspective. The main goal is to understand the social and environmental impacts on waste management globally. You will also get information about the waste legislation in the EU and an understanding of waste management in the developing countries.

In order to pass the course all assignments must be returned within deadlines.

Course grade will be determined by the following way:

Quizz 20% 
Group assignment 50% (40% teacher’s evaluation and 10% peer evaluation) 
Learning report 10% 
Self & peer review 20%
