The evaluation grounds of each course unit have been described on a general level in the study guide and on a particular level in the implementation plan for each course unit.

The evaluation of a course unit can be based on many different things, for instance attendance, exams, series of assignments or completion of learning assignments, or various project outcomes and the presentation of them. The evaluation of course units is based on the knowledge of the student, and the growth of their competence. In some course units, a factor for the evaluation is how well the student adheres to the agreed timetable.
Mostly the evaluation of studies is based on the individual, but sometime the grades are based on the working of the group and its outcome. Usually the teacher carries out the evaluation, but at times also peer evaluation is used, i.e. student evaluate each other’s performance. The grade for the course unit is given on the scale 0–5 or as verbal assessment pass/fail.
Turku University of Applied Sciences abides by a quality system in which feedback is collected on the studies, for instance during a feedback day. The degree programme manager analyses the feedback e.g. in discussion with other faculty and the feedback is used as a guideline in the development of instruction and education
