Objective

The student can
- safely use pain relief methods and treatments that are the responsibility of a dental hygienist and select the correct method or treatment for the customer
- prepare the administration of pain relief, taking into account the supplies and techniques of anaesthetisation as well as associated risks and complications
- give first aid if required
- perform tasks associated with the limited authority to prescribe of medications as dental hygienist

Content

During his/her studies, a student will practice a minimum of 10 infiltration anaesthesias at various clinics, guided by a dentist in charge. Permission to administer infiltration anaesthesia to a patient is granted by the dentist in charge of the overall treatment of the patient; permission is granted only if the patient’s condition and medical history allow it.
