Objective

The students will be able to
• see the model as an element in the space
• compare and execute different compositions
• develop their colour contrasting and palette technique
• prime bases for different artistic purposes

Content

The students will focus on the history of observation-based painting and on observation as the starting point for painting What does it mean to observe and what are the ways in which the observation can be expressed through painting? What can we see in a painting?
The studies are completed as studio-based work using different materials for observation, such as still lifes or life models depending on the curriculum. The students are expected to actively participate in instruction and feedback discussions.
