Objective

After completing the study module, the student is able to

• verify the accuracy of the information in news reporting
• use journalistic fact-checking methods in their work
• explain the significance of the information they have found
• conduct fact-finding in crime and trial reporting
• make requests for information and understand the principles of the Act on the Openness of Government Activities
• explain the importance of source protection and ethical treatment of the interviewee
• evaluate journalistic processes from an ethical point of view
• seek information from international sources
• brainstorm a journalistic story using diverse sources

Content

Use of documentary sources, news reporting based on press releases and fact-checking. Making requests for information. Practices of crime and trial journalism. Application of guidelines and professional ethics for journalists through various examples. Searching for information from international sources.

Qualifications

Compulsory professional studies in journalism or equivalent knowledge and skills.
