ADVANCED NURSING FOR MEDICAL SURGICAL PATIENTS AND INFECTION PATIENTS AND VIRTUAL SIMULATION 5 ETCS SINKI

The course includes 1 ETCS of studies in English

Objectives
The student:
• understands the clinical pathway of medical surgical and infection patients and its special features
• understands the importance of up-to-date information and the flow of information in the different stages of overall treatment of medical surgical patients and patients with infectious diseases
• develops their multiprofessional teamwork skills in the care of medical surgical patients and patients with infectious diseases
• promotes patient safety when implementing treatment methods
• makes use of digitalisation in patient care and guidance
• applies different problem-solving skills appropriately while analysing and evaluating their own activities
• is able to integrate nutritional care and guidance of medical surgical patients as part of nursing together with a multiprofessional network of experts
• identifies digital solutions to support decision-making in nursing
In simulation
• learns more about the nursing, information management and decision-making of patients with internal diseases or health challenges treated through surgery
• learns about palliative nursing
• deepens their ethical thinking
• gains experience in their digital skills in nursing and continuous learning.

· Comprehensive treatment of patients with infections using medical surgical methods
· Prevention, control and treatment of serious infections, highly contagious infections and pandemics
· Guidance for patients with infections and their families and friends using different methods, e.g. digitally
· Nutritional care and guidance of medical surgical patients
· Digital medical devices in medical surgical nursing and perioperative nursing

During the simulations:
• students practise nursing, information management in nursing and decision-making of people with national diseases.
• reflect on the ethical challenges of nursing and develop their ethical sensitivity.

Qualifications

Basics of nursing in internal diseases and basics of surgical and perioperative nursing must have been completed.
