After completing the course, the student is able to:
- describethe structure and topology of data networks, the meaning and importance of protocol layers, and packet switching concepts
- describethe common addressing and naming schemes on various layers of IP networks
- design, build and configure a simple Ethernet network using routers and switches
- perform network addressing calculations
- utilise common tools to analyse network traffic and verify operations
