Objective

Students will
• Know how to assess the need for care and help customers in the reception duties of social and health services in out-patient reception
• Learn to work in a customer-driven manner, use electronic services and communication technologies to guide and treat customers in reception duties and support customers’ systematic self-care and commitment to care in reception duties
• Develops skills in infection protection and aseptic performance
• Key methods for examining people (interview, anamnesis, inspection, palpation, auscultation, percussion, observation, indicators)
• Content areas of clinical examinations (general condition, breathing, circulation, consciousness, digestion and excretion, musculoskeletal system, skin)
• Know how to ensure occupational and patient safety in reception duties
• Enhance their skills in the clinical examination of patients’ vital functions, using the related equipment, monitor the patients’ condition and know how to apply these skills in the treatment of patients
• Know how to plan, provide and assess nursing in a different environments in terms of ethics

Content

• Interviewing patients and surveying their overall condition
• Customer-driven approach in interacting with patients and their family members
• Telephone conversations, chats, video meetings and digital services as modes of support
• Empowering patient counselling and training and self-care support
• Home care and key support methods applied in hospital at home activities
• Following ethical principles in services provided in a home environment
Preclinical training
Assessment of the need for care and clinical examination of a patient 1 ECTS
Assessment of the need for care when seeing a patient:
o Assessment of the urgency of the need for care TRIAGE
o Urgency assessment approach ABCDE
o ASA and ANTS classification systems
o NEWS
• Clinical examination of a patient:
o Identification and examination of vital functions: blood circulation, respiration, consciousness, metabolism/excretion, abdomen, musculoskeletal system, ear, nose and throat, eyes, neurology
o Clinical examination equipment
