The student knows the materials and products used in load-bearing wooden structures, such as, laminated wood structures, beams and trusses and pillars. The student knows the factors related to the manufacture and installation of wooden structures. They are able to create a preliminary design of conventional structural elements (columns, beams and trusses). The student is able to use design tables for preliminary sizing. Students are familiar with the usual connections (by nails, bolts, spike plates and studs).The student knows the most common damage to wooden structures. The student knows the condition of wooden structures and research methods for repair and reinforcement methods.

Exam and homework. Participation in the exam requires completion of at least 30% of the homework.
You can earn bonus points for the exam as follows:
- 1 point when 80% of the homework is completed
- 2 points when 100% of the homework is completed
