Objective

The student:

· Can plan, implement, record and evaluate the basic and obstetric care of the woman giving birth at all stages of childbirth
· Understands the course of childbirth and the changes in it from the point of view of the woman giving birth and the foetus
· Can guide, advise and care for women giving birth and their families
· Can independently plan and implement pain relief during childbirth using nursing methods
· Can administer medical pain relief during childbirth in cooperation with a doctor
· Can independently handle low-risk childbirths
· Can anticipate and identify low-risk childbirths that turn into high-risk births
· Can act as a member of a multi-professional team in high-risk childbirths
· Can prevent, identify and intervene in time in connection with changes in a new-born’s health
· Can care for a new-born
· Learns about the causes, symptoms and care of pathological pregnancies and deliveries and know how to act appropriately.
· Knows the most important and up-to-date pharmacology in the field
· Can interpret cardiotochography
· Students will learn to assist the parturient woman in cases of shoulder dystocia.
· Can stitch tears caused by childbirth and episiotomy
