Objective

Compared to the course “Social development and influencing activities I”, the student proceeds to more demanding tasks. The student’s role is more responsible and goal-oriented than in the organ on the first course.


After completing the course, the student can

•take the initiative and work responsibly according to the targets of the community
•act according to principles of ethics and social responsibility
•act in a constructing manner to develop the organisation
•explain the significance of his/her position of trust in terms of development of education
•describe the significance of his/her ways of action in the organ’s activities
•use creative problem-solving methods in development tasks
•present the operating environment of the student unions and organisations of Finnish universities of applied sciences
•act in demanding tasks within the operating area

Content

The student learns about influencing at university level as a student representative in UAS, faculty or unit level organs, in the student union or other student associations, (e.g. UAS-level organs such as the quality group or as one of the presiding officers in the association specific for the field of education, in the Board of the student union or as a member of the representative body)

•Participating in the organ’s operations and in the development of its ways of action
•Responsible communication about the organ’s operations to other students and from the students to the organ and central stakeholder groups
•Completing development tasks (e.g. collecting and analysing student feedback and presenting it to the organ/at meetings/in teams/on feedback day, commenting on the texts in the Applicant's Guide or curriculum, developing Messi pages, developing the website, creating a stakeholder group analysis and communications plan)
•Critical examination of the organ’s rules, other documents that steer the operations and its ways of action and development of the operations (decision-making organisation, meeting times and places, minutes, storing and availability of the documents)
