Objective

After completing the course the student is able to:
•analyze and design simple electronic circuits
•measure electric signals with a multimeter, oscilloscope and a logic analyser
•design and implement simple electronic circuit boards

Content

•resistors, capacitors and diodes
•bipolar transistors and field effect transistors
•basic electronic measurement devices like, multimeters, oscilloscopes and signal generators
•electronic circuits boards

Materials

No specific material but you can find items for example:
Boylestad: Introductory Circuit Analysis. 12th edition. Prentice Hall 2010.
ISBN 13: 978-0-13-214240-3, ISBN 10: 0-13-214240-6 (you can download this from internet)

International connections

Materials are in English. You can write reports in English or in Finnish.

Content scheduling

The course consists of eight assignments. Every assignment includes calculations and measurements. Calculations must be made before the measurements.

Further information

If you don’t have previous experience of electric measurements and protoboard,
do assignments 0.1,0.2, … 0.5 first and then 3 other assignmets (1,2,...,8).
Assignments 0.1, 0.2,...,0.5 are not for PTIVIS or PINFOS students.

Assessment methods and criteria

In laboratory we work in groups, group size is 2. The group must accomplish 5 assignments for grade 1 and all 8 assignments well for grade 5.
Group makes a short report from each assignment, the course includes 8 assignments.

It is recommended that group show the report to teacher before retuning.
Each report is assessed 0 … 5 points.

The final grade:
points grade
5 - 12 1
13 - 19 2
20 - 27 3
28 - 35 4
36 - 40 5
