Objective

After completing the course, student will be able to

· describe the role of Power Electronics in renewable energy conversion and energy storage systems
· Understand and realize energy system block diagrams, describing voltages, currents, power flows and efficiency as well as control units
· Understand and describe the basic power electronics switching cell (inverter leg)
· Explain the basic buck and boost DC/DC converters and set the parameters for main components
· Explain the basic single phase and 3-phase inverters and set the parameters for main components
· Present the Power Electronics part for a RE production and storage system including technical and economic aspects

1. Introduction to Power electronics application for Renewable Energy production and storge
2. Block Diagram representation of electrical energy conversion systems with main parameters

5. The inverter leg as basic cell for converters
