Osaamistavoitteet

On completion of the training, students will
• have a better understanding how wind turbines work
• be familiar with and be able to calculate key parameters for the conversion of energy from the wind to the power grid.
• Differentiate wind turbines topologies and characteristics

The training will cover the following topic
• Wind as energy source
• Operating principle of wind turbines
• Wind turbine rotor design and simulation
• Control strategies for optimal energy yield
• Components, in particular converters and generators
• Topologies of power conversion chain
• Practical examples and calcutaions

Esitietovaatimukset

Electricity in general, basic knowledge about power electronics and converters, mathematics and energy calculations. (Recommendation, not a mandatory requirement)
