Tavoitteet
The field of organizational behavior is oriented toward developing a better understanding of human behavior and using that knowledge to help people be more productive and satisfied in organizational settings. The primary values characterizing this field include (1) an emphasis on establishing cause-and-effect relationships, (2) a commitment to change, (3) a concern for people, (4) a concern for organizational effectiveness, and (5) a reliance on empirical research and the scientific method.Course Objectives Understand the framework and fundamentals of organizational behavior as the foundation for building and sustaining high performance and effectiveness. Focus on "best practice" leading and managing methods as critical success factors for continuous individual and group high performance. Demonstrate the ability to analyze and apply critical thinking and learning skills related to "real life" problems and situations. Identify and apply structures, processes and methods that can improve individual and group performance and business effectiveness.
Sisältö
The course purpose is to provide students with an understanding of the field of organizational behavior and its current research areas. As part of the course students will receive exposure to the scientific method, research methodologies, and academic research journals employed in this field. The students will also develop a general understanding of the foundational issues pertaining to the management of people at three levels of analysis: Individuals, groups, and organizations (including industry networks).
