Objective

The students will be able to
• apply basic health and safety in painting
• prime the canvas or board for painting
• select the brush techniques suitable for their expression
• apply basic skills in colour observation and composition

Content

On this course, the students will focus on the basics of painting and modes of expression and on how to apply these in a safe manner. Through the course assignment, the students will explore how different base materials affect the painterly expression. The course also covers topics such as colour observation, occupational health and safety and different working methods. The course assignments will also help improve the students’ colour composition skills and ability to create form on a two-dimensional surface. The students are expected to actively participate in instruction and feedback discussions.
