Objective

On the course, in addition to understanding climate change and the related interactions, learning also focuses on becoming aware of different attitudes and ways of thinking.
The course is part of the CDIO-framework that is guiding the studies at Turku University of Applied Sciences as on the course the students learn more about how climate change is linked to the students’ own fields of study. Additionally, on the course the students will learn more about sustainable development.
After the course, the student will:
- understand climate change as a scientific phenomenon
- learn how climate change can be prevented
- learn how adaptation to it is possible
- understand that climate chance is a global challenge
- understand that climate change is also an ethical challenge to our understanding of human life
- understand how climate change is linked to the students’ own fields of study
- learn about the students’ personal roles as influencers

Content

Climate.now is a multidisciplinary study and teaching module on the basics of climate change. It consists of written material, video lectures and assignments that will help anyone familiarize themselves with the basics of the climate change.

Exam schedules

There is no exam on this course. The grading is based on tasks/assignments.

All of the assignments have to be returned by deadline. If you do not meet the deadline, you will get one grade lower grade from that task that you would otherwise.

All assignments have to be returned by the end of the course, unless otherwise agreed with the teacher before the end of the implementation. If you want to ask for this, contact the main responsible teacher (Piia Nurmi) before the end of the course. In this kind of a case your course grade will be one number lower than otherwise. If you do not take contact before the end of the course, you cannot pass the course.

In rare cases you can retake a failed assignment. If you want to ask about this, you need to contact the main responsible teacher. Also, in this case your course grade will be one number lower than otherwise.

An accepted study attainment cannot be improved.
