Code: 5031332

Credits

6 op

Objective

Ship machinery systems is a follow-up to the ship machinery course.
In the end of the course student is familiar with the ship systems as a whole; operational principle, main components, tanks, piping and arrangements.
Student knows the basics of ship pipe design and dimensioning. Also system specific special requirements are discussed. Student is capable to design a basic pipe diagram.

Content

During the studies ship auxiliary systems are educated. In addition ship safety, cargo handling systems and accommodation supporting systems (under the main deck) are dealt with.
Ship pumps and blowers are studied. The methods of pipe construction, pipe routing, rules, dimensioning and materials are educated. Pipe diagram will be designed.
As far as possible the education will be executed at shipyard to enable students to learn real machinery applications and to offer them an option combine theory with practice.
