Objective

The student:
- knows the machines used in earth construction and their suitability for different conditions and tasks
- knows the different earth construction methods
- knows how to compile an earth work plan
- knows the work capacities of different phases
- knows substructure investigation methods
- knows how to draw up a mass removal plan
- knows how to draw up a quality plan for each work phase
- is familiar with the environmental effects of earth construction
- is familiar with the working techniques of bound structural layers
- is familiar with the principles of tendering, cost calculation and scheduling
- is familiar with an earthwork contractor's quality system
- is able to perform cost calculation
- masters earth laboratory work.
