Objective
The student is able to: - describe the principles of ethical conduct for nurses and act according to them - describe the ethical guidelines for nurses and act according to them - describe the principles of collegial conduct and adhere to them - describe the core terminology related to patient safety - describe the responsibilities of the nurse in maintaining and promoting patient safety - identify the areas of client and patient safety (care safety, equipment safety, medication safety) and be able to list factors that promote and jeopardize these aspects - describe how adverse and hazardous events should be handled and reported (as part of patient safety culture) - the essential guidelines for data protection in the nurse's work - describe the main structures and legislation of the Finnish social and health care system - describe the roles of different providers of social and healthcare services as part of the client and patient care chain - describe the significance of digital services as part of social and healthcare services - explain the nurse's responsibilities and duties in ensuring data protection and maintaining confidentiality
Further information
The target group for the study unit is those nurses who have completed their degree outside the EU and are seeking Valvira's authorization to act as a nurse in Finland. The study unit is also available to exchange students. Degree students in nursing and public health nursing cannot take this study unit as the content corresponds to the content of study unit Client-oriented Social and Health Care Services.
