Objective

After completion of this course or the equivalent assessment of prior learning, the student will be able to: • Understand the power of the Chinese economy in global environment • Understand the business environment in China • Conduct business negotiations with Chinese counterparts • Build fruitful relationships with Chinese counterparts • Understand the basics of Chinese culture and heritage • Identify different options in establishing new business in China

• China as political and economic powerhouse • Chinese culture and history • Chinese business culture • Negotiating with Chinese counterparts • Relationship building with Chinese business people • Chinese economic geography • How to utilize different services given by Finnish governmental and other organizations • Business opportunities and internationalizing to China

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student: • Knows the basics of China and its impact in the world • Knows the basics of Chinese business environment and culture • Is able to conduct simple business negotiations with Chinese counterparts

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student: • Has a deeper understanding of China and its impact in the world • Knows the of Chinese business environment and culture in such a way that he/she can utilize the knowledge in business negotiations • Is able to conduct normal business negotiations with Chinese counterparts • Can utilize the differences in economic areas in his/her business • Knows the services given by different Finnish organizations in China

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Assessment criteria • Has a deep understanding of China and its impact in the world • Knows the of Chinese business environment and culture in such a way that he/she can utilize extensively the knowledge in business negotiations • Is able to conduct complex business negotiations with Chinese counterparts • Can well utilize the differences in economic areas in his/her business • Knows the services given by different Finnish organizations in China and is able to utilize them in order to internationalize to China
