Preclinical Training in Fluid Therapy 1 cr
Objective
Students will
- Learn to use their theoretical knowledge in planning, providing and evaluating intravenous pharmacotherapy
- Master aseptic techniques in intravenous pharmacotherapy
- Learn to perform peripheral venous cannulation and initiate intravenous fluid therapy
- Learn to prepare intravenous drugs for use
- Learn to calculate the dosage of intravenous drugs as prescribed by the physician
- Learn to observe patients and evaluate the effects and effectiveness of intravenous pharmacotherapy
- Learn to use the main instruments and equipment for pharmacotherapy and fluid therapy
- Learn to handle, maintain and monitor the central venous catheter
- Know how to adhere to the principles of patient and occupational safety
- Know the role of nurses in the performance of blood transfusion

- Instruments used in pharmacotherapy and fluid therapy
- Prevention of cannula and catheter infections
- Peripheral venous cannulation
- Use of fluid transfusion equipment and three-way stopcock

- Dosage calculation

- Maintenance and removal of the peripheral cannula
