Objective

Promotion of Sexual and Reproductive Health, Family Nursing 5 cr SELINAObjectives
Students will
- Learn to describe the content of sexual and reproductive health concepts and their significance in promoting the health of individuals and families
- Understand the key observation methods and health advice in the care of pregnant women
- Be able to describe the stages of a normal delivery and nursing methods
- Understand the basic care and observation of the mother during the postpartum period
- Learn to plan, administer and evaluate safe and effective pharmacotherapy for sexual and reproductive health
- Know how to use health care technology in the care of pregnant, parturient and postpartum women and gynaecological patients
- Know the most common high-risk diseases, their causes, symptoms and treatment
- Know the most common gynaecologial disorders, their causes, symptoms and treatment
- Know the most common andrological disorders
- Be able to determine and document the objectives, methods, administration and assessment of care from the perspective of nursing
- Be able to take into account the cultural background and values of people as part of sexual and reproductive health
- Know how to support the involvement of customers in the promotion of patient safety

Teaching methods

SELINA and SYNFA
• Learning discussions and problem based learning (topics: sexuality, infertility, pregnancy, labour, puerperium)
• Small group assignments/workshops
• Individual studies
• Virtual learning
• Exam (based on all materials); in total 3 hours (includes contents of SELINA and SYNFA and also medical math)

• Problem based learning (PBL) and flipped classroom (students study topics first by themselves or in small groups and then during contact hours common understanding about the topic will be created together with teacher)

5 cr = 5 x 27 h = 135 h of student´s work
SELINA 4 cr = 108 hours

SYNFA 1,00 cr = 27 hours,
• Gynecology-exam in It´s (Naistalo.fi materials)
• Written assignments (assignments on infertility and surveillance of pregnancies)
• Workshops in small groups or in pairs 2 x 3 h = 6 h (topics: STDs and Contraceptives)
• Individual studies in total 111 hours.

• Integrated exam on SEREGY and SYNFA, evaluation scale 0-5
• Written assignments, evaluation scale passed/failed
• Workshops (mandatory), evaluation scale passed/failed
• Gynecology-exam in Optima, evaluation passed/failed (if > 50 % correct answers, exam is passed)
