Objective
Students will
• Learn to base their actions on facts in various public health nursing duties
• Provide breastfeeding counselling for women who are pregnant, at childbirth and after birth and their spouses and the families of children with babies in accordance with the baby-friendly programme
• Learn to apply the skills and knowledge necessary in the care environment to the nursing of patients/customers
• Learn to assess the patients’/customers’ need for care and answer the needs with nursing assistance methods both independently and as a member of a multiprofessional team
• Learn to support critically ill patients and their family members.
• Become familiar with the treatment path of customers/patients
• Be able to secure continuity of a customer’s/patient’s care
• Learn to assess their own competence and develop their nursing skills.
• Learn to use evidence-based information for decision-making and evaluate the customer’s treatment process
• Learn to plan, provide and evaluate safe pharmacotherapy as a multiprofessional team member
• Practice customer/patient care and professional operations in simulated cases

• Simulation of activities related to the work of public health nurses
• Topics of breastfeeding counsellor training in compliance with the World Health Organization and breastfeeding situations and demonstration in practical training with a tutor
• Multiprofessional addressing of the needs of a customer/patient
• Health care of families growing into parenthood
• Health care of families with children
• Health care of families with school-aged and adolescent children
• Health care of families with working-age members
