Content scheduling
Opintojaksolla hankitaan bioanalyytikon työssä tarvittava perusosaaminen isotooppilääketieteestä. Opintojakso on suunniteltu erityisesti niille bioanalyytikko-opiskelijoille, jotka suorittavat työelämäharjoitteluaan (1-2 vk) PET-keskuksessa.
Objective
The student knows the basic concepts of radioactivity, the principles of safe isotope work and the radiation protection regulations governing isotope operations and official regulations. The student can describe the operating principles of devices used in isotope medicine and understand the purpose and operating principle of radiopharmaceuticals. The student knows how isotope imaging is used in disease diagnostics and monitoring. The student gets information about the PET center and the work of a biomedical laboratory scientist in PET.
Content
- Basics of physics and chemistry used in isotope medicine.
- Isotopes, how they are formed and how they can be utilized in clinical treatment and research work.
- Basics and safety of radiation used in clinical care and research work.
- Essential sections of the radiation law required for the work of a BLS.
- Principles of isotope imaging methods.
- Manufacture and purpose of radiopharmaceuticals and the most common radiopharmaceuticals.
- Applications of isotope imaging.
- PET center and biomedical laboratory scientist's job in PET.
