Content scheduling

In this course the student will learn the basics of measurement technology. The course contains basic concepts in Metrology such as the SI-system, Measurement uncertainty, Traceability and Calibration, as well as more practical content about the measurement of different physical quantities.

Objective

This course is focused measurement instrumentation. A student who passes this course should at a minimum understand and explain different measurement setups. A student that passes this course with a higher grade should be able to analyze measurement problems and implement measurement systems for them.

Content

Heat measurement
Force measurement
Pressure measurement
Amplification
Analog to digital conversion
Optical Isolation
Frequency analysis
Electrode impedance

Materials

The material presented in Itslearning.
Alan S. Morris: Measurement & Instrumentation Principles

Teaching methods

Online lectures and exercises
Independent and group work
Laboratory exercises

Exam schedules

There is no exam in the course.

International connections

The students will independently study the theory presented on ItsLearning and in the course litterature. The group exercises will be done at campus during contact days.

Completion alternatives

Equivalent studies performed elsewhere.

Student workload

The theoretical part of the course is done remotely on the ItsLearning platform.
The practical part is done as group exercises in measurement technology at campus.
