Content scheduling

Lecture days and project work during weeks 3 - 22 on Wednesdays.
Teaching will be organized in Kupittaa Campus, Turku.

NOTE! The groups PSOSS24EN and PSOSTS24 will be together in lectures and project work. Teaching will be both in English and Finnish. In first aid separate implementations in Finnish (teacher Satu Haapalainen) and English (teacher Camilla Laaksonen) .
In January and February we'll meet on campus and in March and April project groups will have sessions in training places (social services and education). TUAS will organize the training places.
The plans for training sessions must be returned by 26.2.
The project groups will have Teams guidance from teachers in March and April.

Objective

• you obtain knowledge of the everyday lives and challenges of the social service client groups
• you know how to apply the principles of sustainability in your work
• you master the basics of professional interaction in the work of social service professionals and know how to meet clients
• you are able to work in teams and participate in project planning and implementation responsibly
• you know how to act in the event of accidents, seizures and smaller accidents at home or outside work

Completion alternatives

The degree program of Social Services is starting a childcare service in Turku as part of the SunHyväElämä clinic's operations. One group of students (approximately 10 students) will complete their client work project internship at the clinic and in the childcare service, and will be involved in developing the new service. The group will participate in the common classes described in the schedule, but otherwise, the internship will differ somewhat from the internships of other groups. More detailed instructions will be available at the start of the internship and on Itslearning on January 15, 2025. Attendance at the start is mandatory to ensure the group gets to know each other and everyone has the same information about important practical matters.
