Objective
After completing the course, the student will be able to:
- apply knowledge of skin structure and function in patient-centered wound assessment
- systematically collect, analyse and evaluate information on wound healing and factors affecting it from the perspective of the patient, the care community and society
- Evaluate and identify the slowing of wound healing and wound infection
- make decisions about the local treatment of the patient's wound and the overall treatment of the patient together with experts in different fields, the patient and his or her loved ones, based on the evaluation of wound healing
- record in the treatment plan patient-centred wound healing and factors affecting it, planned wound treatment and evaluation
- develop the recording of wound care
- make use of digitalisation and remote services in wound care work
- consult with wound care specialists
Content
Topics:
Wound healing; wound healing PPI and PSI, wound healing is influenced by patient-specific factors, the care community, as well as cultural factors, and societal factors, the healing process of a chronic wound, and related problems. Involvement of patient and loved ones in wound care. The potential of digitalization in supporting and consulting patient self-care.
Wound assessment and the tools and equipment used in it; classification (etiology, EPUAP degrees of pressure wound, VPMK, burns and frostbite injuries), imaging, wound environment assessment, identification of wound infection (local and general symptoms), taking a bacterial sample.
Wound healing documentation; According to evidence-based information, taking into account national record-keeping practices.
Wound consultation and digitalization in wound care: ISBAR in wound care, remote consultations, data protection and patient safety when using digital consultation.
