BASICS OF SURGICAL AND PERIOPERATIVE NURSING 5 ETCS KIHO

Objectives
Student:
• is familiar with the clinical pathway and treatment process of surgical patients and can work in a way that promotes patient safety
• understands the significance of lifelong learning in the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of patient care and learns about the methods of assistance, examination and treatment of surgical patients
• knows how to work in a multiprofessional team to support the patient's self-treatment and to use different guidance methods and evidence-based information.
• develops their professional skills in teamwork and in different networks
• demonstrates initiative in nursing and develops self-management skills
• develops their aseptic competence in the nursing of perioperative patients
• learns about digital medical devices used in patient care

Teaching methods
Learning methods: project workshop work, class practice, learning tasks, electronic exams
Exam schedules
Individual exam at Itsi at a time specified in the schedule. The time will be specified later. Materials may not be used in the exam.
A passed exam cannot be repeated, because the grade for the course is based on two separately assessed assignments (exam + care pathway assignment). If you want to increase the grade for the course, you can retake both assignments.
Retaking a failed/not-taken exam is agreed upon separately. A failed exam can be repeated twice (degree regulations).

Learning tasks and student work dimensioning:
5 credits – student work = 135h
Time allocated for writing is at least one hour per 120 words. Reading is 15 hours/100 pages (medium difficulty)
