Objective

• Know how to guide children and families in various situations related to health and diseases
• Know how to promote patient safety in the nursing and emergency care of children
• Be able to use health care technology in the nursing and emergency care of children and adolescents
• Know how to adopt a critical approach to searching for, using and evaluating evidence-based knowledge and use it to develop the paediatric nursing and emergency care
• Know how to determine and document the care needs of a child patient, plan and administer evidence-based nursing and emergency care and evaluate their effectiveness
• Know how to support female patients giving birth in an emergency childbirth outside a hospital setting if a physician or midwife is not available
• Know the most common emergency situations during childbirth and pregnancy and their emergency care
• Students will deepen their competence in the emergency care and nursing of elderly patients and people with special needs.
• Students will know how to plan, administer and assess safe and effective pharmacotherapy for the elderly and people with special needs as a part of emergency care and nursing

Content

• Paediatric emergency care, the most common paediatric diseases, surgical disorders, infectious diseases and long-term illnesses of children and adolescents and their treatment, rehabilitation and documentation in accordance with the nursing process
• Clinical examination of child patients and the use of various assessment methods to support clinical decision-making
• Childbirth in out-of-hospital environments
• Most common emergency situations during childbirth and pregnancy and their emergency care
• Emergency care of elderly patients and people with special needs and its special features
• Emergency care and nursing of elderly people, geriatrics and pharmacology
• Safe and effective administration of pharmacotherapy for the elderly in emergency care and nursing
