Objective

The aim of the course is to introduce the student to the structures and operations of different process control applications and intelligent measurement techniques. Upon completing the course, the student will:
- understand the basics of feedback control systems.
- be familiar with the characteristics of basic processes and their effects on control.
- understand the structures and operation of common controllers.
- recognize the significance of tuning parameters in controllers.
- be able to design and tune various control loops and evaluate control performance.
- be acquainted with common measurement methods and instrumentation.
- be aware of performance criteria in measurements and the importance of quality control.
- understand the features and possibilities of smart sensors and detection techniques.
- be able to select measurements and design and implement control loops for various processes.
