Objective

Upon completion of the course the student will be able to
- design expressive characters for production purposes
- identify and apply the principles of character design
- make well-founded graphic solutions to support the story and the production
- outline the history of character design in terms of techniques and means of expression
- deepen their skills and knowledge of character design
- develop their own expression through their studies

Content

The course introduces the history and practice of character design and character animation. Through exercises you will gain an understanding of the nature of the work of a character designer and animator. The focus is on how to convey a story and emotion to the audience through the character and its movement. The workshop-style course will also include physical and perceptual exercises. The course will develop personal expression, independent work and the ability to receive and give feedback. The course is linked to the planning of the 2nd year practice production.
