Student workload

How much student work is 5 credits?
5 x 27 h = 135 h

Content scheduling

During the course we have two weekly lessons.
You are supposed to attend all lessons every week.

If you happen to be away due to sickness - it is not necessary to inform the teacher, but if you are working
with a team, it is very important to inform the team mates.

The lesson times can be checked at https://lukkari.turkuamk.fi/
Search for: Engineering Physics 2

The first weekly lesson/lecture is given in an auditorium,
the second weekly lesson is at campus laboratory area – you will be working with the exercises, experiments and project during these lessons. Teachers will be there to help you.

As much as 70% of the work during the course is done outside the lecture times.
It is important to do the readings and exercises weekly.

Working with the team is also a big part of the course.
Most of the teamwork time is not written in the schedule but you need to make up the teamwork times with the team.
Please be active in teamwork and try to make good weekly routines - do not forget the coffee and lunch breaks.

Course contents:
- Pressure
- Fluids
- Temperature
- Heat
- Electricity
- DC-circuits
- Magnetism

Assessment methods and criteria

Grading
Engineering Physics 2 (5 credits)

Your grade consist of
1) Test points (24 p) *You need 10 test points to pass the course
2) Exercises (6 x 1 p = 6 p) ---> return box every second week
3) Experiments (6 x 1 p = 6 p) ---> return box every second week

Points Grade
10* 1
20 2
24 3
28 4
32 5

Re-exam:

If you didn´t pass or attend the test, there will be two official re-exams.
Your exercise/experiment points are valid in these two exams

If you miss a return box, you will not be able to do it later.
You will receive one “free” point for exercise return boxes so that missing one return box will not have negative effect on grade

Allowed in the test:

Calculator
Dictionary
A book of physics tables
Technical formulas* / Tekniikan kaavasto MAOL / Tekniikan taulukkokirja / etc.
One A4 ”cheat sheet” where you are allowed to have physical formulas and constants
Example calculations/problems are not allowed
A printed (and modified) version of file Formulas.pdf is also allowed

*Available at the library

*You will need a tablebook at the test
