Teaching methods

Learning happens in a real workplace in real tasks, guided by ICT professionals.

Exam schedules

The course cannot be completed with an exam, and re-exams are not organized.

International connections

Learning by doing and evaluating one's own learning.

Completion alternatives

There is no optional method to pass this course.

Student workload

In an unpaid internship, the student signs an internship contract with the internship site electronically. In a paid internship, the student returns the employment contract scanned.

The student prepares a plan for his internship and approves it (corrects if necessary) with the instructor of the internship and specifies the goals in the plan during the first week of the internship.

The student completes an internship and actively strives for goals by studying the desired knowledge and skills. At the end of the internship, he requests a work certificate from the internship location and returns it. He performs any tasks and/or reporting related to the internship.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

The internship is approved when the student has worked at least 270 h and submitted the required documents.

Content scheduling

Internship is studying at the workplace in a real work environment. In the internship, you will familiarize yourself with practical tasks that are central to the profession, where you will apply the knowledge and skills you acquired earlier in your studies. At the workplace, you can also see what professionals in your field do for their work. In principle, it can be completed at any time, but in practice, employers only offer students jobs suitable for professional training when their studies have already progressed beyond the beginning of the competence track.

In training, you will also discover what other skills are needed in working life than just theoretical knowledge.

Teaching methods

The purpose is to familiarize yourself with the practical work in one's field of expertise in a company operating in the field. Through the internship, you will familiarize yourself with practical tasks that are central to the profession, where you can apply the knowledge and skills you acquired earlier in your studies.

Exam schedules

The course cannot be completed with an exam, and re-exams are not organized.

International connections

Before starting an internship, you should find out whether a certain task or job description is suitable for professional internship. If this is the case, an internship contract will be drawn up for the job, which will be signed by the instructor from Turkuamki, the instructor at the workplace and the student.

During the internship, the student writes an internship diary or report about the workplace and his own work tasks during the internship. A work certificate, the internship agreement and an internship report are returned for the internship. In addition to that, an internship seminar is held where the student talks about his/her internship and his/her duties there.

Completion alternatives

There is no optional method to pass this course.

Student workload

The learning task is to get to know what engineers in the field do in their work and what kind of companies they work for. The company's organization, size, turnover, most important products and customers are investigated.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

The internship is approved when the student has worked at least 270 h and submitted the required documents.

Content scheduling

Professional training at OPS is scheduled for the spring or summer of the third year of study, but it can also be completed at any other time, as the progress of studies is often individual.

Teaching methods

Tarkoitus on tutustua oman osaamisalueen käytännön töihin jossakin alalla toimivassa yrityksessä. Harjoittelun kautta perehdyt ammatin kannalta keskeisiin käytännön työtehtäviin, joissa voit päästä soveltamaan aiemmin opinnoissasi hankkimiasi tietoja ja taitoja.

International connections

Completion alternatives

There is no optional method to pass this course.

Student workload

Oppimistehtävänä on tutustua siihen, mitä alan insinöörit työssään tekevät ja siihen minkälaisissa yrityksessä he toimivat. Yrityksestä selvitetään organisaatio, koko, liikevaihto, tärkeimmät tuotteet ja asiakkaat.

Content scheduling

Ammattiharjoittelu on OPSissa ajoitettu kolmannen opiskeluvuoden keväälle tai kesälle, mutta sen voi muulloinkin suorittaa, koska opiskelujen eteneminen on usein yksilöllistä.

Further information

The course cannot be completed with an exam, and re-exams are not organized.

Evaluation scale

H-5

Assessment methods and criteria

Arvioinnissa otetaan huomioon työnantajan mielipide harjoittelijasta. Yleensä arvioidaan harjoittelijan toimintaa työyhteisössä, oma-aloitteisuutta ja ammatillista kehittymistä harjoittelun aikana.
