Teaching methods
In the editorial meeting, the student presents his/her story idea and implements it independently. The teacher tutors as needed and approves the story for publication, after which the student publishes the news story independently on the Tutka social media account of their choice.
In the final report, the student reflects on his/her own learning and evaluates his/her performance according to the instructions presented in itslearning. All published articles should be linked to the final report for evaluation.
The student decides how many stories he/she will do during the semester and submit the final report at the desired time.
International connections
The principles of sustainable development are followed through the Guidelines for Journalists, because stories should, as a rule, reduce inequality, increase gender equality and support peace, justice and good governance, i.e. the basic principles of democracy.
During the course, in addition to the above, the student practices the goals of working life and ethics in particular. Proactive development is also possible, as the aim is to experiment with new forms and methods of journalism.
Student workload
Each published article is worth one credit together with the final report.
Content scheduling
The purpose of the course is to raise Tutka's Instagram and TikTok accounts so that journalistic video content is continuously produced for them. It is news-driven and can be either so-called explanatory videos about subjects of interest to young adults or news stories on video. For each article published on Tutka's social media, the student receives 1 credit based on the final report.
Delivery meetings are always held on Tuesdays from 2 pm to 4 pm and they are held as hybrid and in class Lem_B156 and at the same time on Zoom: https://turkuamk.zoom.us/j/69548616715
Delivery meetings will be held 17 times between 14.1.-13.5.2025. (There is no activity at week 8.)

The student's appearance in the video is professional and pleasant for the viewer to follow. The student experiments and searches for a suitable genre for themself. In the final report, the student reflects on their own learning process and analyses their own news stories well.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
