Ship ProjectLaajuus (15 cr)

Objective

Upon completing the course, the students can apply thematic entities related to the general ship design and produce a new ship concept based on given values.

Content

Topics and skills learned in earlier naval architecture and marine engineering modules studies are applied in a large ship concept design project. A ship concept is developed in small student groups.

The ship general design course covers following topics:
•systematics of the ship technology
•concept development of a ship
•ship design process
•documents related to a ship contract
•general arrangement of a ship
•selection criteria of propulsion machinery
•different areas of cost calculation

Qualifications

The student must be able to apply contents of earlier naval architecture modules.
