Selection of Materials Laajuus (5 op)

Osaamistavoitteet

The participants are able to follow and apply standard tests for materials characterisation. The participants are able to plan and run tests for development of new materials or products from recycled materials. The participants are able to select suitable material based on date sheets and testing. The participants are able to report their work and analysis shortly and on thesis form.

Sisältö

The students deepen their knowledge in materials testing and characterisation in lab and learn to run new plastics processing machines. The students familiarize themselves with topical RDI issue where recycled materials are developed to new materials or products.

Issues: tensile and bending tests, water absorption, impact test, thermal expansion, applying standards in product testing, effect of design on product’s properties, hydraulic press and 3D-printing, literature survey, data sheets and GRANTA EduPack program for materials’ selection.
