Objective
The student is able to
- explain the impact of diseases of the respiratory or circulatory systems, metabolic diseases, and cancer, as well as their medical treatments, on the client's body structures and functions, capacities and performance by applying the ICF classification,
- explain evidence-based methods for assessing the functional capacity of the aforementioned client groups and use them reliably, appropriately, and ethically,
- explain evidence-based physiotherapy methods for maintaining or promoting the functional capacity of the aforementioned client groups and use them reliably, appropriately, and ethically,
- apply interaction skills in the guidance and counseling of clients with respiratory and circulatory problems,
- apply medical knowledge related to internal diseases in the physiotherapy process,
- explain the pathophysiology of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) and conduct the physiotherapeutic examination and rehabilitation of BPPV following evidence-based practice,
Content
Respiration: Pathophysiology of diseases or injuries affecting respiration; the significance of respiration; assessment of the functional capacity of clients with respiratory problems; specific physiotherapeutic examination of respiration, clinical reasoning, and physiotherapeutic diagnosis; physiotherapy methods to support or promote the functional capacity of clients with respiratory problems; breathing exercises supporting ventilation and enhancing the removal of lung secretions; physical rehabilitation and rehabilitative exercise; secondary and tertiary prevention of the sequelae of diseases or injuries affecting respiration; application of communication skills in physiotherapeutic guidance and counseling.
Circulation: Pathophysiology of diseases or injuries affecting the circulatory system; assessment of the functional capacity of clients with circulatory problems; specific physiotherapeutic examination of heart disease, clinical reasoning, and physiotherapeutic diagnosis; physiotherapy methods to support or promote the functional capacity of clients with circulatory problems; physical rehabilitation and rehabilitative exercise; secondary and tertiary prevention of arteriosclerosis; utilization of technology in the implementation of physiotherapy, client engagement, and solution-focused guidance; application of communication skills in physiotherapeutic guidance and counseling.
Metabolic Diseases and Cancer: Assessment of functional capacity and consideration of functional limitations in physiotherapy; physical rehabilitation and rehabilitative exercise; main features of the rehabilitation of clients with lower limb amputations.
