Objectives
After the study unit the student will:
• Be familiar with the key concepts, knowledge base, values, ethical principles and guidelines in nursing
• Know how to apply the values and ethical principles of nursing, as well as to assess their realization
• Be familiar with the responsibilities/tasks of a nurse/public health nurse
• Understand evidence-based activities in nursing
• Know how to search for information using the most common health sciences databases
• Know the legal and ethical principles of patient and customer work
• Be able to interact professionally in a multiprofessional team
• Understand the decision-making process of customer-oriented nursing and how it is linked to evidence-based activities
Content
The study unit contains courses in English and some modules that will be carried out in a multilingual setting (Finnish, Swedish and/or English).

• The rights and self-determination of patients
• Identification and handling of ethical problems
• Ethical decision-making and activities in nursing
