The Design Plugin Medium 2 – Design Expert training is a 30 ECTS course completed as blended studies, which is based on the wider Design Plugin Maxi – Diploma of Higher Education in Design 60 ECTS package.
The current definitions of design and the possibilities of design thinking apply to all fields, from technology to business and from social to creative fields. Design expertise can be utilized in all kinds of development, searching for and finding development opportunities, creating understanding and relevance, and implementing the needs for change that follow from overall understanding. There is no need for earlier design expertise, and gained design understanding and expertise will merge with previous expertise and professional background (Design Plugin principle). In development work, human-oriented design thinking acts as a "glue" connecting different fields, as a red thread, taking into account and accepting different perspectives towards common goals.
The Design Plugin Medium 2 – Design Expert training complements the entire course together with the Design Plugin Medium 1 course to correspond to the 60 ECTS Design Plugin Maxi - Diploma of Higher Education in Design. Design Plugin Medium 2 includes the following courses:
1. User-Centered Approach Project (10 credits)
The user-centered project deepens the contents of the Introduction to User-Centered Approach course through a concrete user-centered project, for example related to your own work.
2. Visual Communication 2 (3 credits)
Visual thinking and communication skills are deepened through practical tasks and exercises.
3. Digital Visualization (7 credits)
Introduction to key visual and graphic design programs through practical exercises.
4. Prototyping (5 credits)
We experiment with different prototyping possibilities for different development needs.
5. 3D Modeling and Concept Design (5 ECTS)
Introduces the basics of 3D surface modeling and concept design.
Design Plugin Medium 2 – Design Thinking Expert training 30 ECTS is completed over one academic year (autumn+spring).
Objective
After Design Plugin studies the student is able to use design thinking and designerly ways of developing in work.
