The begin of the course will take place on Tuesdays at 16.15–17.45 at EduCity campus, and later also partly in the town of Turku. Please, check the timetable due to changes and the course program in learner´s platform itslearning.

Errors leading to misunderstanding occur often, and the pronunciation still needs practice to be more precise. The student focuses on completing the given assignments alone. The student’s learning goals are modest and do not match the student’s skills.

The student has completed all the assignments. The student’s pronunciation is mostly understandable even though some errors leading to misunderstanding may occur. The student is able to produce language and use basic structures learnt to meet the demands of the situation, even though some minor errors may occur.

The student is motivated to learn Finnish, which can be seen and heard as spontaneous language production. The student’s pronunciation is accurate, and the use of language follows the grammatical patterns of what has been learnt. The student has completed the given assignments in time. The student is willing to go above and beyond the basic requirements of the assignments, which demonstrates the student’s orientation on Finnish language and culture. The student adjusts their use of language according to the communicative situation they are in.
Only with the assignments returned on time can be reached K5.

Objective
This course is designed for exchange students. The course is a fun way to get to know Finnish language and Finnish everyday life. After the course students understand basic structures in the Finnish language and are able to cope in everyday situations.
Student will be familiar with Finnish as a language (grammar, structure, basic features). S/he is able to introduce himself, able to ask simple questions and answer to them.

Material provided on itslearning platform and during the meetings.

Teaching methods
Meetings in the classroom (or online), working in the town Turku with an app and assignments on the platform.
Start in January 17th 2023. (In case of online meeting, you will find the link in your e-mail box and on the platform itslearning.)
Active participation (student must attend at least 80% of the lessons).

Oral exam and classroom (or if obliged online) activities 20 h
Assignments on the platform: written and oral assignments, group works and research in internet, visiting several places for using the language skills, independent studies 60 h.

This course is designed for exchange students. The course is a fun way to get to know Finnish language and Finnish everyday life. After the course students understand basic structures in the Finnish language and are able to cope their knowledge in everyday situations.
Students will be familiar with Finnish language (grammar, structure, basic features). They are able to introduce themselves, able to ask simple questions and answer to them. Introduction to pronunciation, everyday phrases in Finnish, basic grammar; vocabulary, such as nationalities, food, colours, numbers, travelling. Also Finnish cultural features and habits are included.
The begin of the course will take place on Tuesdays at 16.15–17.45 at EduCity campus, and later also partly in the town of Turku. Please, check the timetable due to changes and the course program in learner´s platform itslearning.
