Objective

The development of modern architecture in Finland and the Nordic region from Art Nouveau to the present day by examining the historical background of the buildings that can be seen today and the architectural thinking associated with them. Architecture before the 20th century is briefly discussed in an introductory lecture and in a lecture on the restoration of historical buildings. The student will gain an overview of the key phases, buildings and building types of modern architecture in Finland and the Nordic countries, as well as architectural models in the Nordic countries.
