Objective

Course deals with the power system: electricity production, transmission and distribution, utilization.
After completing the course, student will
- recall the key statistics of electricity production and consumption globally, in Europe and in Finland
- understand the operation principle and main components of the power system
- recall the most important technologies used for electricity production and describe their key features
- know the main principles for electrical system design and dimensioning
- be able to describe the operation principle and key features of transformers, motors and generators as well as power converters
