Objective
MIDWIFERY IN THE FEMALE LIFECYCLE 5 CR KÄELObjectives: The student shall be able to- plan, implement, document and evaluate midwifery of women and their family as an expert in his or her own field- understand in full the physical, mental and social aspects of pregnancy- promote women's and families' well-being, equality and fulfilment of rights in health and sexual and reproductive health- master the theoretical course of pregnancy- know the screening methods and contents of health guidance during pregnancy- guide and advise pregnant women and their families in questions relating to pregnancy- recognise women requiring special monitoring and care and guide them to seek further treatment- guide the family on social benefits available to them- guide the family in family planning- plan, implement and evaluate family coaching- carry out family-oriented midwifery work during pregnancy both independently and in multiprofessional maternity-services-system workgroups- guide and support the client/family in a changing family situation, transitions in the parents' relationship and growth to parenthood- know the most common disorders and problems during perinatology and neonatology- initiate resuscitation on a neonatal infant when necessary and continue resuscitation as a member of a multidisciplinary team- know the woman's pelvic structure and measurements and their significance in parturition- know the changes caused by pregnancy to the functions of the woman's body- know the facts relating to the development of the embryo and evolution of the organ systems- plan, implement, document and evaluate the midwifery of gynaecological patients using modern gynaecological research data- know the Finnish genetic diseases and, in particular, the significance of genetic background to foetal growth and development
