Objective
PROMOTION OF FAMILY HEALTH 10 cr PETEObjectives: The student shall be able to- apply his or her knowledge relating to health guidance in maternity and parenthood based on the family's needs and expectations- apply his or her knowledge relating to special issues in pregnancy and parenthood concerning the client and his or her family- work as a lactation consultant.- apply his or her knowledge in matters concerning the family's sexual health- apply his or her knowledge to monitoring the child's growth and development and supporting the child as an individual, family member and representative of his or her own culture- work in co-operation with families and different stakeholder groups to maintain and promote a safe growth environment- apply his or her knowledge in supporting parenthood in the different stages of the family's development- carry out prevention of communicable diseases, and master inoculations- carry out family education- apply his or her knowledge to monitoring the adolescent's growth and development and supporting him or her as an individual, family and school community member and representative of his or her own culture- guide an adolescent in the development of and changes to his or her sexuality as well as mental health issues in different ages and guide the adolescent's family in problematic situations- apply his or her knowledge to an adolescent's health problems and the changes resulting from them to the families' lives and treat, guide and support the adolescent and his or her family in such issues.- work in a multiprofessional way in maintaining and promoting an adolescent's and his or her family's health- evaluate the significance of work, work environment and unemployment to a person and his or her well-being- support the work and functional capacity of a person in working age as well as well-being at work, and work multiprofessionally with the person in working age and

Healthcare work of a family growing into parenthood 3 cr VAKAContents:- supporting parenthood and early interaction- monitoring, treatment and guidance of pregnancy and the puerperal period in maternity care- special issues relating to pregnancy and the puerperal period- family coaching- breastfeeding guidance- family planning guidance (the PLISSIT model and contraceptive advice)- special issues relating to pregnancy and parenthood, such as mental health- home visits Healthcare work of a family with children 3 cr LATE Contents:- the principles guiding child health clinic operations- resource-oriented parental support of the child and family in the child's different development stages- the growth and development of a child under 7 years of age and regular health monitoring- monitoring of the child's eyesight and hearing- nutrition of suckling and preschool-aged child- special issues relating to child nutrition (constipation, diarrhoea)- vaccination programme and vaccinating- special issued relating to children's development (such as bedwetting, retarded development, eating disorders, anomalies in speech development etc.)- stages of sexuality- multiprofessional co-operation Healthcare work of child in school age and young family 2 cr KOTE Contents:- the principles guiding school healthcare-the growth and development of a school-aged child/adolescent and regular health monitoring- screenings- risks/disturbances, such as bullying, school fatigue, overweight, depression, of the health and social development of a child in school age and an adolescent, and addressing them- empowering support of a child/adolescent and his or her family- health promotion in school and pupil welfare Healthcare work of a family in working age 2 cr TYPE Contents:- working capacity and well-being at work- occupational health legislation- action plan and occupational healthcare agreement- occupational workplace survey- health checks- work environment, risk and strain factors- coping at work- work-related and occupational diseases, accidents at work- activities maintaining working capacity and promotion of well-being at work- multiprofessionalism/networks/developing the quality of one's own activities
