Objective

The student shall be able to- work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team in midwifery- develop and improve his or her knowledge and skills as an expert in midwifery in planning, implementing, documenting and evaluating midwifery- plan, implement and evaluate, as a member of a multidisciplinary team, the nursing of a pregnant, parturient and puerperal mother, a healthy neonatal infant, a neonatal infant requiring intensive care, or a gynaecological patient- guide and advise patients and family members in care issues particular to midwifery- act ethically in accordance with the ethics of midwifery and observe the governing regulations and legislation- act correctly in terms of aseptics- master in terms of midwifery the key contents and methods of medicinal treatment relating to pregnancy, parturition and the puerperal period- master the treatment and guidance of normal term pregnancy- identify risk pregnancies and guide patients to seek further treatment where needed- monitor and treat a pregnant woman and foetus in the antenatal stage- independently master a normal term parturition in all the stages of midwifery work- master the treatment of a neonatal infant and resuscitation when necessary- provide initial advice to the parents, when the family has a sick, disabled or stillborn child- master the monitoring, guidance and care of a postpartum mother- guide and treat women with gynaecological problems- guide, advise and treat the woman and the whole family in issues relating to sexuality- use software for electronic documentation in the ward and record the essential data in the database
